Foundational Pieces to Style a Timeless Space

Foundational Pieces to Style a Timeless Space

A timeless home isn’t created overnight - it’s built slowly, with pieces you love and trust to last. In how they look, and how they’re made. I don’t believe in rigid rules, but there are a few foundations I come back to again and again.

They’re simple, practical, and versatile - the kind of pieces that always have a place.

Pots & Vases

Choose pieces with shape and texture, in a neutral tone that suits your home. For us, our French antique confit pot works beautifully with our earthy, muted palette and has a timeless, classic form. Use them to house flowers, buds or branches -bringing life and softness into any space.

Books

Perfect for styling - stack them on their side to create a base for other decorative objects or stand them upright to add height and structure. I stick to covers that are neutral or complementary to our colour scheme so that they blend effortlessly into any room.

Lighting

Lamps and candles add warmth and atmosphere. One of our favourites is a deep-toned antique barley twist lamp, balanced with a cream linen empire shade - a simple shape and design that complements every re-style in our home.

Scent

The feel of a room isn’t just about how it looks. I keep candles or a diffuser nearby - our a new dawn scent adds a fresh, calming note. A match pot close by makes it a simple ritual, ready to light whenever you need a moment of calm.

Home styling doesn’t have to be fast or finished. Let it be a process. A collection. A way to notice what you love and give it space to belong.

Would these make it into your own styling capsule — or are there other pieces you reach for more often? We'd love to hear.
