In 2017, Fiona and her husband bought their first fixer-upper. She was working in a healthcare lab at the time, but found herself energised by styling corners of their home, sourcing vintage finds, and creating timeless interiors that felt layered and lived in.

In 2021, they moved into a 1920s home in St Albans. It was another renovation, and another chance to build something with meaning.

During Fiona's pregnancy in 2023, things shifted. It was a difficult time - one where she stopped investing in herself and her surroundings. Eventually, Fiona had to step away from the job she’d trained for.

Then a close friend gave her a wax melt. The scent was fresh and calming, and it brought back how much comfort a space can offer when it feels like home.

Later that year, she found a set of Victorian stoneware pieces and made her first reed diffusers and matchstick holders. That moment sparked what would become Alban Rae Home.

What began as a creative escape has become Fiona’s day to day - and a way to share the belief that timeless interiors, built slowly and with care, can change how we feel in our own lives.
